If you have a decent amount on deposit with them then the manager has the authority to waive any fees.

Yes, everything is negotiable if you have something to bargain with...

Just saw this on moneysaverspain.com newsletter

'Another bank to increase commission: After Banco Santander and Sabadell increased commissions, BBVA will be doing the same. BBVA clients will now have to pay 100€ per year unless they have at least 5 direct debits and use their credit/debit card 7 times (both requirements during a four-month period). Although most account holders won't have a problem meeting the new requirements, those that do should think about changing bank to avoid the charge.'

Other useful stuff here

Do you have a link to that newsletter article? We have the BBVA online account and have not been paying any fees. And we have not gotten any notification that we will have to start paying. They are still advertising it as no fee (https://www.bbva.es/eng/productos/fi...nes/0CA0000245 ). Maybe that article is referring to their nomal in-branch accounts.

No link, it comes to me as an email as I joined their subscribers list. Assume online accounts exempt but who knows with banks these days squeezing us for every cent.

From memory, I think the charges were going to be debited every quarter, so €15 will be taken out of the account in late March.

Yes, just looked back to my OP and it did say the charge would be applied quarterly.
