Ryanair to charge for Visa Electron cards

Just thought this may be of interest to all those still trusting Ryanair

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/new...ctron-bookings

Ryanair ends free payment for millions

Ryanair will charge passengers to book flights using a Visa Electron card from next year, ending the fee-free payment method for up to 20 million travellers.

Anyone using this card type will soon be slapped with a £5 per leg demand
However there will be a way around paying the charge apparently - get yourselves a pre-paid Mastercard. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/prepaid-cards Apparently Ryanair are leaving this loophole as they've launched their own pre-paid card in Ireland.

Yes, it's been around for a few days now, the only way they can advertise flights at 99p etc is if it's possible for some to avoid their ridiculous card charges. Have a good look at which prepaid card you choose, the charge varies quite a bit. Some are free, some a set up fee of £10, and some with a monthly charge of £4.95. Plus you have to preload it, and pay every time you want to use your money! :)

Hi
Just had a look at the Ryanair prepaid card. £60/85 euro a year. Free flight offer,,Ha. not as it sounds, you apply to the card company, they tell you if flights available. Before anyone signs up check out the terms and conds.
Nothing on the front page about any of this. Another money maker for them.

bil - The link I give to the Money saving site has a page devoted to saving money when using budget airlines. I would have thought that anyone using Ryanair would like to be informed that the costs are rising. If not, a thread like this is not compulsory you know?

Thanks for letting us know!

We have been using my step-son's Visa Electron card for a few years now - this has meant we have been able to get the 99p flights etc.

Will have to look into the other options now, or face up to the extra £9.50 per return flight!

.. that's told him!!! A whiner about ryanair whiners LOL !!!

& contrary to belief - not everyone has a choice of airlines (or not much of one anyway) if you are miles from a major airport - e.g. Doncaster do very few flights really and so have a lack of airlines !! ...
