Ryanair Changes

Can´t believe the old dog is changing his ways. Now allowing a small handbag or airport bag on in addition to a carry on bag. Plus other changes.

I mentioned this in the other RA thread, a few comments there about this.

When we used to fly with them, it would annoy me how some were let through with cabin luggage obviously too big to fit in the frame, plus hand bags, carrier bags full of stuff, yet I was told to put my bum bag in my cabin bag. My bag has been tested in the frame several times, though of regulation size, but someone with a bulky holdall just walked through.

know the problem. The staff know by experience those that are out of size, and yet it seems that large bags still get through. Perhaps it is younger "fanciable" flyers that get away with these things :(

I remember having to stuff my airport bought extras into jacket pockets and I had 2 books inside my shirt.

But, rules are rules - just that "some men are more equal than others"

Their website gives max size for handbag or whatever as 35 x 20 x 20 cms. Oh, and they will remove that annoying 'Captcha security feature' whilst trying to book.

So will they be designing a new cardboard box thingy to go over your handbag! Good about the captcha feature, very annoying.

Well, far be it for me to be the only one to stick up for them (RA), but how annoying is it when you pack everything into one bag so that it just fits and weigh it carefully, only to see someone walk through with what appears to be twice the limit and they get away with it? Whatever the rules, they should be the same for everybody.

Re: Ryanair Changes

The permitted size of cabin baggage is larger than quoted above - this from their site today:

'Strictly one item of cabin baggage per passenger (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm is permitted. (handbag, briefcase, laptop, shop purchases, camera etc.) must be carried in your 1 permitted piece of cabin baggage.'

The relaxation of the 1 bag policy may be in response to this:

I am quoting from the FR website which is giving the size of extra hand baggage e.g. handbag allowed from 1st December in addition to the usual 55x40x20 which we all know about.

Apologies, misread it.

Having recently spent ages in luggage shops with a tape measure it jumped out at me!

does that mean handbag is compulsory for the men as well as the women ??

all these size changes by RYA and EZY mean I will have to get a new suitcase - so the manufacturers are the only winners.

Keep your old suitcase, nothing has changed, except that soon you will be allowed/encouraged to carry a handbag, colour coded to your underwear, preferably in a pastel shade:o
You see, nothing to worry about just Mr O'Leary being a little bit like father Christmas:)
