I'm flying with Ryanair tomorrow and just received an email from them saying:
"Christmas crackers cannot be accepted on flights so please do not bring them to the airport as you will have to leave them behind. Your baggage allowances are detailed below. Do not wrap any presents that you are carrying in hand baggage as the wrapping will be removed at security. Merry Christmas from all of us here in Ryanair."
Ho ho

Fair enough about the crackers, I spose there is a chance in 10,000,000 they might ignite. The wrapped presents is crap, or cant the scanners get through it.
I am sure you will send them a nice Christmas email to let them know how you feel ;) ;)

Anyone else flying out of Sevilla tomorrow night? To Stansted? We could meet up and pull all the discarded Xmas crackers.

They'll have a fight on their hands if they try to confiscate the turrón, mantecados and chocolate that are currently making up half of my 10kg hand luggage allowance!

Said I would report, no problems either way, but our plastic carry bag for lliquidswas a bit too big, so chap at Alicante just transferred it to one of correct size. only 6 people had priority boarding going out, so got decent seats as we were at the start of the queues and had an A on our boarding card. Cards are marked PB, A, B C or D as you book in, (Easyjet) A is for the first so many in the queue etc, PB board first, then A etc, and they do stop those with later letters going on early. Coming back, similar story, although Ryanair only give out Priority and others, so there is a bit of a scrum, and people trying it on by going in the priority queue were stopped, they stayed at the gate thinking they would get on first of the others, but the girls sent them to the back of the queue :D :D . Brought back plenty of biscuits and chocolate etc, no problems. Christmas Crackers, party poppers were, however banned as they are classed as explosive, cream crackers are OK. :D . Ban on drinks going through security is a rip off, they charge €1.50 for 500ml water airside in Alicante, and £1.75 at East Midlands, so who's making the profits?

With the money they are making on the drinks, I can see it becoming permanent :(

I can remember a lot of people on the boot sales getting their party poppers confiscated cos they did not have a firework sales licence

Re: Ryanair

Travelled from Stansted to Almeria with Ryanair in July and did the same route with Easyjet three weeks ago. On both occasions, everyone was boarding the flight but not sitting in the front row. Not sure why they were, but we sat there and didn't get moved on either trip. We were lucky enough to make two round trips with loads of leg room. We ae hoping for third time lucky when we fly out next time.
As for hand luggage, when we returned in mid-Nov, we had Manchego cheese, boquerones, chorizo all sorts of edibles in there and no-one at Almeria airport said anything but I couldn't take my mascara on-board! Very strange! :o
