Which "facts" have I got wrong then? They are correct - unless you can specify which one is wrong?

Australia's pack weak? It was just as weak, if not more so, in 2003 - didn't stop them getting to the final. They have an RWC pedigree like no other - they will be ready. They are going to the SFs - where my (correct) statistics will once again hold sway.........

He has a point though Matt. Which game did Australia lose in the RWC NH tournaments???? I can't think of any and can't be arsed to google it. UNLESS you're suggesting that the "lost" the '91 final despite winning it? Campese and all that......

EXACTLY!!!! Chess and Checkers (ahem, sorry, Draughts)

One is a game in it's simplest form so that any Tom Dick or Harriet can play it without any skill whatsoever, the other is a thinking mans game where the victory can be won by the flair of the backs (rook, bishop, King Queen) or the grunt of the forwards (the pawns). League falls firmly in the former of the two.

Therefore........... now let me think - ah yes - they have WON EVERY RWC MATCH they have EVER played in the NH.

Quite right, Crispy. I think we would describe Matt as a Kiwi loving tosser. At this precise time though he would be a Scottish tosser as they are currently playing their sole victorious game of the RWC 07. :p

PREDICTION GAME UPDATE:
With most of the first round matches out of the way I thought I'd let you know how you are doing before the first official KOTB (King of the Board) Thread get's posted on Thursday.

With one notable exception, the games have gone pretty much to plan meaning most people have similar scores. This will no doubt change in the next few games with the "minnows" playing each other.

I'll leave out individual progress for the moment but between the 5 boards that bothered to take part, Spain leads with an average score per player of 39.75; Canada and Australia share second place with an average of 35; France takes fourth place with 34 average whilst NZcan only muster 32.5.

Try to encourage more guys on your boards to have a go as they may find it difficult to win the individual title, but as the average scores of each board is taken into account, they can help your board win Board title.

Second Round predictions will be up tomorrow.

Oi Fortaleza...........???!!!

Does my score of 40 not count? Or is it that I am a 'troll from the Middle East board who is so far up his own behind' and am therefore disqualified?

And when do I get an apology from Rugbyprat for doubting my stats?

(PS - From my side, I apologise for calling him a Kiwi - apparently he isn't, and I know how upsetting it can be to be mistaken for a NZer - now perhaps he can explain how ANYONE who ISN'T a Kiwi can support NZ!!!!!??????)

You actually have more than 40. However, I said this was an update not the end of round results and the KOTB (King of the Board) will be posted on Thursday. I said I'd leave individual scores out at this point as I want to build up a bit of tension before Thursday whilst still encouraging the boards to take part.

I don't recall calling you a Middle East Troll so I can't comment on your comment. You are listed as part of the Spain team as that was where you posted your predictions and as far as I'm concerned you are more than welcome, especially as you are doing pretty well!!

Amusing thought - if they finish SECOND in Pool D, the 'hosts' will have to go to that well-known French city Cardiff to play their QF.......almost certainly against the All Blacks........ laugh? I thought I'd never stop...........

I don't know why the fact that there are games being played outside France bothers you when in the 20 year history of the tournament there has been only two that were played entirely in one country - SA '95 & Australia '03.

'87 - NZ & Aus; '91 5 Nations Countries; '95 SA; '99 Wales & Other 5 Nations Countries; ' 03 Aus, '07 France plus Wales & Scotland

It was a political decision anyway as the FFR thought they needed to secure votes to prevent England winning the bid when in the end the votes weren't needed as they won the vote by a landslide

France will only have themselves to blame if they have to play away from Paris as, like in previous tournaments, the fixtures and venues are arranged to favour the host nation - if they finish top of the group, they needn't leave Paris

It's not that I'm moaning NOW - I've ALWAYS said it shouldn't happen. Even the 2003 RWC was originally a 'joint' affair with NZ, until that row blew up.

The initiative should come from the IRB, not the other way round. All they have to do is say 'all future tournaments must be hosted entirely by one nation', and only allow 'bids' on that basis, and the problem will be solved.

And by the way - what is the justification for having the Fiji v Canada match in Cardiff - on a Sunday lunchtime?? How many people will attend that in your view? I reckon less than 10,000.

And apart from their 'big' games (v Oz and NZ respectively), 'home' matches for Wales (v Japan) and Scotland (v Romania) are clearly designed to make it easier for them to reach the QFs at the expense of 'smaller' rugby nations. It stinks, frankly.........

And why give Cardiff a quarter-final that, because of the way the pools are drawn up, cannot possibly feature Wales?
