Rugby Matt! R U still on?

Re: Rugby Matt! R U still on?
Nobby, (gonna rename him car crash) bounding about in the campo, suddenly started howling and trying to gnaw at his back. Obviously I thought he had been bitten. Checked nothing there.
He is a brave dog and never wimpers. But every time he moves now he cries!
He is really out of sorts. Still eating and stuff. ABC. Can dogs strain their back?

Just asking for an opinion. I thought you had working dogs. OK. Very late to ask.

This doesn't sound like something you should ignore. Perhaps visiting a veterinarian would make more sense. I know some people diagnose their own illness on the internet using web MD and the like, but your little guy doesn't have a choice in this one...

Will take him to the vets tomorrow. Just wanted to know if anyone had experienced it before. Dogs are worse than children. They cant tell whats up! Thanks x

Dogs can injure their backs the same as us. We had a dalmation years ago who was diagnosed with a slipped disc after displaying similar symptoms.
She too was not a dog who normally made a fuss, but was obviously in pain.
Thankfully with rest it cleared up within a couple of weeks.
Try and keep him quiet and take him to the vet tomorrow.
Good luck.

Pony's advice is the best, it looks like it could be a strain along the spine. Cant see it being the actual spine, they are pretty strong things, unless there is an existing problem of course.
I will happily self treat my dog for some things but others the dog goes straight to the vets.
