Re: Road travel to UK
Hell that's bad.
I have found a hotel in Santurzi with underground gated parking which looks basic but for a night not bothered about luxury. Parking is Euro 10/ day. Would still use locks and things though.
I am surprised there is not a common datatrak rfid system used in geographic European countries to improve bike security

Re: Road travel to UK
I have never had any problems but I never stopped over in city's. Where I stayed in Lerma was a lovely quite old hotel. They asked did I want to put my bike in the main reception foyer? Which was full of antiques with very old slate floor. I'm not sure they realised the size and weight of a BMW GS 1200. I declined but thanked them .

Thanks Missile, I have looked at the hotel website and it's under the hotel with a metal gate at the entrance so in theory and under the circumstances should be as good as one can hope for.

Re: Road travel to UK
Alot of the hotels/hostals i have stopped in have underground parking which have the most superb steep slopes into them & sometimes go round corners. One in Burgos me & the other half stopped in was memorable. The other half was scared to go down to i took her bike down lol

Why not go straight up the guts to Calais then cross Eurotunnel?
We did Marbella to Madrid ( 9 hours) hotel.
Madrid to Bordeaux (8 Hours ) Hotel.
Bordeaux to Calais and straight through to London.. ( 8 hours)
Smooth as babies bottom.
24 hours on a ferry is useless, enjoy your ride /time.
Roads in France and throughout are great.
stay upright.
