Revised ITV Rules ??

there may be a groan out there but I have searched and there isnt anything directly relating to this recently -

putting a Peugeot 206 through matriculation and the following have been raised by the ITV engineer who came to garage to start work on the paperwork
  • 2 brand new tyres fitted 2km ago in uk are code H and they must be T
(this is a speed rating but garage says it is a heat problem due to the roads)
  • the uk headlights need to be changed not adjusted
(this is because the dipping is carried out by mirror and it is in the wrong place to dip legally ?)
  • the original 6 months "grace" is now only 1 month
is the ITV engineer being too picky or making it up ??(unable to find the requirements on a google search)

any comments ?

Hi I would say NO! he is not being picky I just had 2 new tyres on my Sharan in UK and the ones I have been buying for years were not good enough I had to have a higher rating for "load". Michelin Energy to Michelin Premacy.

The one month is correct & the vehicle can only be driven to a garage for the work to be carried out/back to the MOT station for the retest.

If it was a Spanish car the tyre specs would be in the Ficha Technica. Presumably the Spanish car tyres are to a higher spec than the UK ones.

Hola Fred do you not have to get the CoC from UK and in that case would it not specify the UK code?

Hi

Tyres are whatever the Ficha Technical reducida says - if the engineer says you need a higher speed / weight then you have to do it or fail the ITV.

Yes front light would have to be changed and possibly the rear / reversing lights swapped over

You have to returrn the vehicle to its original country of registration after 6 months if you are not resident. You have 60 days to avoid the first registration tax - please see http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=726960
