Retiring to Spain

my partner and i are thinking of retiring to the Costa Blanca area of Spain, can anyone give us any advice.

we'll rent out our property in the UK and spend the 6 months of the winter to try it out, has anyone done the same thing?

Many thanks, look forward to hearing about your experiences,

Andy and Jenny

Yes, we moved out here 15 months ago, and love it, we just upped sticks and moved over here to a place we had bought. I would suggest your ideas was better, gives you a chance to see where you would prefer rather than buy first, and also gives you the opportunity to return to the UK, not something we would want to do. Winter is the best time to see the the big differences, costal has a better climate than inland, no frost at all. Plenty of ex pats round here, so language isn't that much of a barrier, although by leraning Spanish you get on so much better with neighbours.

Hi Mike

Thank you for responding. I have property to sell here before I can make a decision. We intend to let our home here incase we do not like it. We will probably rent over there and see how we get on first. We have two and a half years to get things sorted out. Thats when I will retire.
I wonder what kind of activaties there are. I like bowls and Jenny likes walking and going to the gym.

Kind Regards
Andy & Jenny

We are semi retired and decided to just 'go for it' we have bought off-plan and two years since putting our names on the contract we are on the verge of moving to Spain. We have decided to sell up completely, main reason is that we had a couple of properties we rented out and the tenants we had left a lot to be desired :( Not all I hasten to add but we have had a few dodgy ones  For that reason we decided not to rent our house but to just sell up and take our chances. Friends of ours moving to Turkey have decided to rent out their bungalow when they move in case they decide to return to the UK. Different strokes for different folks. Good Luck

Good Luck to you. You are very brave. We have two houses and hope to have an agent rent them out for us. Our move is about two and a half years away. I have two industrial units to sell and there is a lot of legal stuff to sort which is going ahead at the moment. The tenents do not want to buy the free hold so i have to sell them as investment propertys on the open market. I have a developer who wants but he is £20000 short of what i want for them.
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on. My email address is available by clicking on my username.
Kind Regards
Andy & Jenny
