Yes, there are too many obese people of both sexes, but you can bet your life the women are the ones whose self-image suffers because of it, the men are still thinking "she must be a lesbian" if someone doesn't welcome their advances! I must admit that I'm amused when women criticise men over their looks. One was bitching about one poor guy who had a bad dye job in an attempt to look a bit younger, and was saying how pathetic he was trying to hide his age. Sadly I wasn't in a position to say what I wanted, which was "Prithee, how many women in the crowd are busting their guts to appear that bit younger, dying their hair, plastering their faces, desperately jacking their cleavage skywards, and compressing their cellulite speckled, sagging bellies and slumping buttocks into something more youthful. Oh yeah, and desperately lying about their age?" |

True story this.
A good friend of mine left her husband after just one year of marriage and over a drink one day she told me what happened. At least once a week she would be lying in bed next to him when he'd suddenly trap the duvet over her head, shout " Depth Charges " and fart really loudly. At first she treated it as a joke, then pleaded with him to stop but he simply carried on doing it. " I knew then that he'd never respect me in our marriage so I left him " she said. I just reckon they weren't compatible. |

I was in Tesco once, and I saw this woman wearing a Tshirt that had so many 'X's before the L on the size label that the label had to be twice as long as usual. Retirement unless it is early retirement means you are just closer to pushing up daisies :) so why not just enjoy what's left of your life to the full in what remains of it and sod leaving anything for the kids and just blow it on whatever takes your fancy, buy a boat, go fishing, play golf, don't bother going to spanish classes as by the time you have mastered it you will probably be dead.
Retirement is great I should imagine if you have an imagination.:thumbup: |

friendship\relationship is the key, it wasnt when I met someone else (yeah I know I'm the scumbag husband) it was several years before when I realised that we were pulling in different directions. Sensible I would call you, there is no point at all in staying together if it's making either one of you miserable! As you get older either you grow together or grow apart. Growing together as you get older is very comforting, you share a history and experiences that no other person can be a part of. so Retirement - is it easy ? don't know, but will let you know a little later on in my life, all I know is that I am relaxed with my partner and thats always been the way since we first met. We both have separate hobbies but also both like doing many of the same things together, it just works! :wub: Yes as Bil says sex plays a part in relationships.... but it's ONLY a part, if it's THE most important thing then that's not a marriage, it's just an inexpensive way for a man to get a hooker he doesn't have to pay the hourly rate for. Sex doesn't take all day....it's what happens in the other twenty three and a half hours each day that really count. :) Good luck with your move Dom and with your retirement, it will be what you make it, so in your case... To which my response was, "There's more to life than breathing, but I don't plan to do without that either." To a man, a one sided decision to reduce sex is a corrosive thing that can eat away a relationship very quickly. I remember Anne Diamond saying on TV that she and her husband 'were celibate now'. From the look on his face, this decision had obviously been a tad one sided. I said to my OH, 'I give that relationship 6 months max.' Sure enough..... |
