Hi Fred,
We are applying for Residency from UK via Gestor in Spain 1st stage. When the question arises of bank statements, we do not keep much money in our bank as interest is very low but we have for example £10,000 of Premium Bonds would they see that as the same criteria if we had to show savings? TIA |
Re: residency application - Proof of sufficient resources
I dont think 10,000 would be adequate for a "we" nor do I think something like premium bonds ( which are uk financials not existing in Spain) be acceptable. The amount they require very much depends to some degree by how they view your overall financial situation. For example, if you own a property here and how much you actually have in a spanish account, if you are retired with pension, if you have a spanish work contract.

I presume you mean you have contacted a gestor to help you when you arrive in Spain because you cannot get residency unless you are present in the actual offices
2nd Stage will have to be there. Fingers crossed! |

No, we do have about £15000 in savings so will add the Premium Bonds to our bank account. I will be retired so no working involved. My GOV pension does not start till 2022 but I have a private pension to be used a DrawDown. fingers crossed. |
Re: residency application - Proof of sufficient resources
A couple of things from my very recent research re my wife obtaining residencia with the Extranjero office in Málaga who deal with first phase of application in our area. Do you or will you be submitting an S1? as although it covers your healthcare it seems to also make things easier. Failing that if you don't have S1 you will need comprehensive private healthcare. In relation to my wifes application we own our spanish home outright with no charges and have a current nota simple to show this. As a result they say that they are happy to accept UK bank statements as my wife doesn't have a spanish bank account yet. I doubt as has been said they will accept or have a clue what premium bonds are! The amount required in the bank per year at the moment is around 9600 Euros for a couple or around 5600 euros for an individual. It does say on the new system of applying that part 1 can be submitted electronically but I have no idea how that is achieved obviously your gestor may have that information.

Re: residency application - Proof of sufficient resources
You can only apply electronically yourself if you have a digital certificate. Your gestor can (must) do it electronically.
