Research Visit

Good morning folks,

We have posted a few times in the past about schooling and the like.

We originally had our hearts set on a move to the Nerja area of the country, however after doing a bit of research it now seems an inland location is looking more favourable. We are coming out for a look at the end of March staying in Alora. The plan is to cover the Western area of the Costa Del Sol looking at inland and costal locations. Ronda is a place which appeals to us, is there anyone on here based in or around Ronda?.......If so could you give us an insight?

What other towns and areas in the West of Costa Del Sol are worth a look?

We are looking for an authentic Spanish feel and reasonable property prices i.e cheaper then our original choice Nerja!......we would also like to be within an hour of large expat settlements for buisness reasons.

Sorry the post is all over the place, writing isn't my strong point.

Cheers in advance

Not sure if this location would suit your needs, but how about Antequera? Just north from Malaga on the main road, almost sitting at a crossroad for Granada, Cordoba, & Sevilla (better for airport connections).

If the only thing putting you off the Nerja area is the cost, have you looked at any of the outlying villages or coastal areas? You would find these are much cheaper.

Within appx 15 mins of Nerja you could look at Torrox, pueblo and costa, El Morche, Algarrobo, pueblo and costa,or Caleta. Just a thought.

I second the recommendation of Antequera - it still has a really authentic Spanish feel despite becoming increasingly popular with expat buyers. The old town is wonderful! Communications are great (motorways, AVE station). Prices were very low (which is what attracted so many people here in the first place!) and you'll still find good value if you look around.
We have visited Ronda and although the gorge is very dramatic we felt that the frequent coach tours detracted from the atmosphere somewhat.
