Smile Rescue dog

Hi, I have found a podenco dog about one year old. He needs a loving home as he is very gentle and sweet natured. Unfortunately I cannot keep him because my husband won't let me. We already have two and a cat which I also rescued. I live in El Faro on the costa del sol. Please ask everyone you know so that I can re home this beautiful dog. Thanks.🐶

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

I've posted a question on an animal rescue/homing site which probably won't be able to help home it, they're based in the Axarquia East of Malaga, but I've asked who you could contact.

SOS are apparently a group worth contacting in Mijas/Fuengirola (don't have a number I'm afraid) or there's www.ace-charity.org who are in Mijas.
Good luck

There's another group who rescue Podencos, I believe they're called Ibizan hound rescue they have a page on facebook and are always rehoming these lovely dogs whom they have rescued from awful circumstances. If I have mis-spelt the name I will recheck and repost.. I wish I could do something but I am still in the UK

just checked and have spelled it right.

Thank you very much everyone for your kind advice but I have found him a home. I am delighted because he was going to end up in a refuge, "prison cell".
Now I can relax and not worry about him.

I am pleased you have found a home for the podenco. My O/H works in a animal rescue centre and like most centres they are not all put in "prison cells". They are only shut in large cages at night with other dogs all with their own beds and blankets. My O/H loves his job especially knowing the animals are safe and fed.

Know what you mean. My OH found a new born dog in our basura bin. He is now nearly 1 year old and thankfully gets on well with our 16 plus cats (plus is because my neighbours cats also visit). OH recently rescued a small kitten on Christmas day. Looked like a kitten but after 2 months now looks very pregnant, if so must be at least 8 months old - I do wish he wouldn't keep bringning them home. I badly need a new computer but am spending all our funds on getting animals steralised - so far have done 1 dog and 18 cats!! Vet now charges 140 euros minimum per animal so really wish he would stop bringing them home.

I think this is relevant, don't want to hijack (paranoid about this atm..!) but won't the vet do a special rate because you're fostering/saving them, and does anyone agree with me there should be some sort of national free or heavily subsidised neutering scheme for all 'stray' or 'abandoned' animals??

Reason for asking being I got in a bit of hot water locally for suggesting on a forum that donated charity type money should be split between feeding the saved animals and neutering them.
