Renewing Non Lucrative
 

Hi - my wife and I have just secured our NLV visas. I am one of those people who plan finances to the nth degree (as my wife says, 'don't worry, he will have a spreadsheet') - in terms of costs and fees for renewing an NLV whilst in Spain (Galacia Region to be specific) can anyone offer indicative numbers please?

Assuming you mean real costs and not financial requirements…

Per person:

Payment visa renewal 790-052 €16.40

Payment TIE renewal 790-012 €19.30

Ongoing health insurance (or S1 if applicable)

Certified translation costs as required.



Fee if you have someone do the renewal for you (no idea of cost) but it’s not hard to do it yourself. Get a digital certificate if you don’t have one already but you’ll need a computer NOT phone/tablet for electronic submission.

And then wait 3 months or more for an appointment to do it!

Or just bite the bullet and pay a crooked lawyer to do it for you! €200 for the appointment plus the rest. Thank you Brexit.

For TIE?? Not in my experience. Maybe lucky but NLV renewal approved and TIE appointment within an hour of each other. Also friends using local company were waiting weeks. Showed them how to do it (with digital certificate) and appointment secured within a week for Alicante province. The more people pay for these back doors the longer they’ll go on all in my opinion of course.

Lucky you! Your very positive experience completely contradicts many comments in the press about the SEDE appointment system.

Thank you - most helpful - in terms of the digital cert you refer to - is that the Visa, the TIE or both?

I would say both. It’s not always necessary but simplifies access to many official online services, AEAT (tax) DGT (vehicles/licences), Town hall, SUMA (Alicante province only), Mercurio (NLV renewal), TIE appointments, etc. etc.

All foreign residents in Spain should have a Digital Certificate. Spanish nationals can use their electronic DNI. It is useful for so many things and so easy to get - FREE!. Sadly is doesn't make getting appointments any easier if you need to. Ive had one for years - ever since it was introduced.

I use the CL@VE thing; it's easy to use. I just scan the QR code on the screen with my mobile, and the website lets me in. The dig cert our solicitor and accountant have.
And on something similar, having SUMA here in the Alicante area works wonders for the car tax, IBI, rubbish, etc. All in one place and easy to set up DD for them all.
I'm almost going to use that as a reason not to move to Mercia in a couple of years...

If your solicitor has your digital certificate they could send it to you via an email attachment its a very small file you then simply download the file to the device you use Computer, tablet, phone etc using the password associated with it. It can be added to multiple devices. Once it downloaded the official sites recognise your certificate which pops up on an online box and you get access. That os how we get our certificate we go to guadal info in the village the person there puts it onto our laptop and sends an email to us with it on to put on other devices. The certificate is yours you authorise your solicitor/accountant to use it to access official things on your behalf. That said the Clave does the same thing in reality
