removals uk to nerja

hi we are finally ready to move to Nerja in the next few weeks.
we are going to be staying in a hotel and looking for a long term rental when there.
we are looking for a removal firm to bring over our boxes as soon as we have a property.
we have no furniture just boxes.
a firm with storage would be good then we could store in spain until we are ready.
have looked at a few online but as its our treasured items we are being very cautious who we choose.
any help would be appreciated :) many thanks x

Re: removals uk to nerja

I am speaking with two firms at the moment, one does a run every 10 days and has storage in Colchester and in Spain, pricing is quite reasonable £70 per m³ and it is all on there own vehicles no groupage, from initial discussions I am confident they will be ok.

The other firm will be by neighbour when we move and I will speak to them later today.

How much do the boxes weigh as you could store them in UK and either send on pallets for £85 - £115 or use Courier.

I could send 24 boxes with Fed Ex (as I account holder) for £75, so if you know the weights It might be worth looking at.

Hi, here's a thread with some tips on how to choose reputable movers to get a quote from http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=783099

If you've not got a lot of stuff ask about part load services as this might be the most cost effective way to do it.

You can also check out independent reviews of BAR Overseas members on the trustedmover.org website if you need a little bit of reassurance that they do a good job.

Hope that helps?

You will find that there are a number of self storage units in Spain so you dont necessarily have to trust it to a warehouse. At least you have complete control of the items then in a locked up environment. Be helpful to know how many boxes and the rough volume because different sized shipments suit different ways of shipping :)

Well ... take it from someone who spent his life in the freight company and has seen where a lot of removal companies (not all) store their stuff. Open warehouses with other goods. At least with a self storage you are in total control. I wouldnt do it any other way.

If you havent got many boxes then you could contact way2go hire. Apart from actually hiring one way vans, they also do accompanied and of course could deliver to a self store near where you are going to be. They have depots all over. If you were to do it as a one way hire yourself you could do Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao, get yourselves over and all your stuff safely and under your control for around £800 - £900
