Reminder
A timely reminder that the forum is a place where people can ask questions and receive information about living in Spain. Healthy debate is encouraged, opposing opinions are welcome provided that they are put in a polite manner and of course different experiences are valueable as this shows the diversity of life in Spain.
However, once again it seems that it is necessary to stress that we have zero tolerance on people becoming aggressive, making derogatory personal remarks and generally bringing the forum into disrepute.
So please keep the forum friendly, inviting and informative.

Re: Reminder
It could also do with a plea that posters check what is written for errors in grammar, spelling and other typos before submitting. Then we might get a little less annoyed!

Re: Reminder
Call the grammar Police! How fortunate some of us must be if a spelling error can upset the ever so perfect world in which we live

Re: Reminder
I think the odd spelling or gramatical error on the scale of things is not worth worrying about, surely if one can get the gist of a text, so what? I and I am sure many others use a tablet or phone, they have predictive text which yes one can turn off but don't as it can be useful, unfortunately they sometimes predict wrongly. I often end up going back to correct and correct my posts. Being rude abusive is different.

Re: Reminder
Would you be equally annoyed at a person’s complete lack of understanding in the subject of chemistry or physics?
"Annoyed" is something I feel if someone has deliberately upset me or caused me or others harm in some way.
For me to become "annoyed" at a person´s inability to spell, surely reflects more on my lack of understanding, than it does on theirs?!

Why would you become "annoyed" at someone´s lack of education regarding the English language?

Sometimes I am irritated by the same errors being made over and over again but then I admit to being a pedant.
I also teach English now and before that (many moons ago) I was a technical proof reader (like a newspaper sub-editor) so it was my job to spot and correct errors.
I wonder if people would be so lenient of these sorts of errors in, say, the Times or similar newspaper? Isn't it as much laziness as anything else?

I don't remember saying that I was annoyed anywhere.

I wasn´t saying you were annoyed. My reference was from the second poster to Rosmary. Someone that wrote how spelling/grammar errors annoy them...or something like that.
Sorry, I should have quoted correctly.

Sounds like you had an amazing job proof reading! Seriously, I would have loved that. I´m simply not skilled enough as most of my English teachers were sht! (joking)
