Registering my motorhome avoiding import duty
Hi
I am about to set off on a house hunting trip to Spain, the intention is to find a home in the next 6 months and apply for residency. I am led to believe that if I apply to matriculate my motorhome within a month of becoming resident I can avoid having to pay import duty on the van, can somebody please advise me if this is true?
For info the van is just 6 months old, I am the only owner, full tax paid at first registration, it is LHD, full continental spec (switchable headlights, twin reversing lights etc) and I have the valid EC conformity certificate.
Any help from the experts out there is greatly appreciated.

Re: Registering my motorhome avoiding import duty
Yes, so long as you have owned it for 6 months, then the registration tax (there is no import duty) can be waived. You must do this within 60 days of registering on the list of foreigners with the police and signing on your local Padron at the town hall.
My advice is do it as soon as you have registered - don't use up too many of the 60 days as you don't know what problems you may have.

Many thanks for that reassurance!

Hola
If you haven't already, then read how to re-register your motorhome in the "useful info for living in Spain" - any questions problems then ask away
