Hi folks,

Just wondering if it is possible (or even necessary) to register a Gibraltar marriage in Spain? Neither of us are Spanish citizens but I am a permanent resident having lived here for several years. My local Registro Civil office informed me this morning that it wasn't possible. However, they did mention that there might be a method to do it via the Registro Civil office in La Linea de la Concepción (which borders Gibraltar)?

But is it necessary to register it in Spain I have no idea.

If you need to show evidence of a legal marriage, your marriage certificate needs to be apostilled, for which Gibraltar makes a charge of £15. Apply when you arrange your marriage. If you have already married in Gibraltar, you can arrange it through Gibraltar register office.

Why do you feel you need to register foreign marriage in Spain? In which circumstances apostatized cert is not good enough?

Registration option is only available to Spanish nationals married abroad.

We married in Gib years ago (Spanish residents).

The only thing that changed was the annual tax return and the gestor took care of that.

It looks like we do not need to take any further action as we already got our marriage certificate apostilled in Gibraltar.
