Reforma Regulations
Hello,
First post here. I am about to start a reforma of an apartment near Malaga. I want to install multi-plug USB wall sockets (sorry I can't attach the photo due to this being the first thread). Does anybody know if there are any regulations against this? Are these permitted or is it necessary to stick with the two pin sockets? Thanks! |
Re: Reforma Regulations
As far as I am aware, you need a qualified electrician to do any electrical work. If you want to risk DIY, who would know and anything goes.

I looked at them some time ago but they aren't very powerful - try and get the most powerful you can. |

Thank you for your replies.
As far as I am aware, you need a qualified electrician to do any electrical work. If you want to risk DIY, who would know and anything goes. I was reading on a blog post about somebody intending to instal 3-pin UK plugs in their home in Spain and somebody commented advising against this along with mentioning it could invalidate your home insurance should there be an electrical fire for instance. But I can't find anything regarding a multi-plug socket. Maybe the same would apply or maybe not... |

You probably do need permission, but who would know - just do it.
I looked at them some time ago but they aren't very powerful - try and get the most powerful you can. They say 'Input: 250V - 50/60Hz' and Output 'DC 5V 1100mA' and on the front '5V' which I assume is for the USB sockets. |

1100mA is nothing. Most good chargers are now at least 3000mA which is why I didn't install one myself.

The plus are purchased in the UAE. I’m guess the 5V/1100mA is for the USB and the 250V input is for the plug socket. Does that sound about right? Why not get the Spanish version? OK, they aren't multi-plug but they do have USB connections |

Yes but 1100mA is too low for most devices now especially USB3 devices
Why not get the Spanish version? OK, they aren't multi-plug but they do have USB connections Basically we just planned on installing multi-plugs as a nicety for holidaymakers renting the place out during summer. We can change them for schuko sockets plus USB if need be. We’re between Spain and the UAE and sockets and switches in the UAE are super cheap compared to the prices in the likes of Bricomart and Leroy MerlÃn. Thanks again! |
Re: Reforma Regulations
Purchased in UAE, I doubt they would comply with EU regulations.
If you are using an electrician, ask him to source suitable sockets. |
