Default Recording TV

We are looking for a way to record TV. We are in a community which has a communal satallite dish. In the UK we use a Humax recording box. Can you use this in Spain?

We use a Humax box (HB1000s) in Spain and it works very well. If you use the Freesat app you can set the program record facility from any where in the world using your smartphone, handy for when you're out with friends and remember there's a program you wanted to watch.
Our model isn't fitted with a built in hard drive but has a USB port to attach a portable hard drive/flash drive. Other Humax Freesat boxes are available with built in hard drives.

External hard drives may need more power than the USB port on the box can give, flash drives won't. These are worth a look out for

The 500GB would suit most people and is cheaper https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Portable-SSD-T5-500GB/dp/B074MCM721/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?crid=1XDEMRHSGY9HW&keywords=samsung+t5+portable+ssd+-+1tb+-+usb+3.1+external+ssd+mu-pa1t0b%2Fam&qid=1559061117&s=gateway&sprefix=Samsung+T5+Portable+SSD%2Caps%2C243&sr=8-1-fkmr0

Thank you both. Think we will look into one with a built in hard drive.

Not so fast!

To work the Humax will need a feed direct either from a dish pointing at the Sky satellite cluster or from a distribution system pumping that out to each dwelling, two feeds if you want to simultaneously watch and record.
Unless your community is wholly Brit and with a Sky/Freesat system set up to cater to that specific audience I doubt those will be available from it.

How EXACTLY do you receive your TV now and what channels do you receive ?

Not necessarily.
You can actually record two and watch a third even with just one cable...using the correct postcode on set up, you can get BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, C4 and Fives all on the same polarisation group...allowing you to do three things at once with just one cable...as one cable is used for one of the four frequency polarisations at a time...

We are not there at the moment. So can't check the connection. But I believe there is only 1 cable going into back of TV. The co.munity dish is about 8 foot across situated in the pool area. It's mainly Brits on our urb. We get all Freeview channels
