Hi All,

I´ve seen questions of this type on various forums but no satisfactory answer so I hope you can help me

I am a British citizen legally resident in Spain for 3 years now. I recently lost my spanish job but I have a really good offer from a british company who is happy for me to work remotely from Spain. Is there a legitimate way to pay income tax and social security here in Spain on a British salary and request a tax refund for my PAYE/NI contributions in the UK? Or do I need to set myself up as autonima here and charge them as a contractor?

I am not looking to avoid paying tax/social security or fly under the radar here in Spain.

When you say the British com^pany "is happy for me to work remotely from Spain", is that because they understand the implications and are happy with them, or because they are in happy ignorance of the implications? If the former then you are indeed lucky. If the latter, you will have to decide whether autonomo is a legit solution or whether it would be bending the rules and if so whether that bothers you. Again there is plenty on google

Thanks, that first link in particular looks really promising and I didn´t appreciate that even my backup option would be against the rules! Whoever thought it would be so difficults to get yourself taxed Unfortunately the company doesn´t yet know about the complications. I´m hoping to have all the necessary info ready to go for when they ask to give myself the best chance.
