Real life scam...

Got some stuff including a cement mixer in Friday ads which also goes online.

This is one of the replies. lol

Hello,
Thanks for the mail, I will like to let you know that i can take care of the shipment myself and i will like to continue with the transaction,To make the transaction fast and easy, I will instruct a client of mine who is owing me the sum of 2,500 to issue out the cheque to you . I would have collected the cheque myself but it takes about 2 months for me to clear cheques because I run my canadian account but I will try and sign up for uk account soon. I will be glad to compensate you with an addition 60pounds for the inconveniencies.

The shipper will be coming over for pick up at your location after the cheque clears. I require the actual name as it is to go on cheque and also the address where it should be mailed to including your phone number.

I will supply you with all necessary details of the shipper upon receipt of payment.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Regards.

Thanks jdr, always useful info.
Another for the scambank....
my 90+ year old mum in UK got a phone call from someone who didn't know her name, claiming to be calling on behalf of someone in Spain...mother innocently volunteered oh was it my daughter, conversation continued, woman seemed Spanish but when we 1471'd it was someone on a UK mobile. Don't know what it would have turned into, but thankfully mother gave up & put the phone down.

Too many of them around. I have had a few from 'banks' asking for confirmation of personal details. Banks I don't even bank with! I google the banks in question and forward the email to them.
