My thread above was closed back in 2016 ( originally posted 2014) but just wanted to let everyone know that my little house is now worth nearly 3 times (or 300 %) more. Still no desire to sell as I absolutely love Cabo Roig.

I find that very hard to believe. Do you have any evidence to support your claim?

Hi Missile, sorry none as not currently selling. You are going to have to take my word for it that my little house (£55k 2014) on the Hills of Cabo Roig (becoming quite an exclusive place to live) is now circa €150k as advised by my original estate agent desperate to sell it. The beauty is that there is still time to get on the ladder as prices have not yet reached 2007/8 pre crash prices. When my house hits €190k we will be back there. My prediction for when this will happen late 2019…

I would think you did probably buy at or near the bottom so will have done far better than likes of me who unfortunately bought in 2007. Certainly where we are although properties seem to have bottomed out and a few are eventually starting to sell they are still very low. Like anywhere if you are in the right area then you can make money especially if you bought very low. It looks like you timed it spot on so well done.

If your property has increased three times in value in the past few years I wish you the best. I don't believe you, but I wish you the best.

Spain´s housing market finally returned to growth in Q1 2016. Spanish house prices had fallen by a total of 41.9% (46.8% inflation-adjusted) from Q4 2007 to Q3 2015, based on figures from TINSA. There were 31 consecutive quarters of y-o-y declines

Well he could of bought for 55K and spent another 100K on a kitchen, extension etc.:sarcasm:. In all fairness, it was just the right time in certain parts of Spain. The way it's looking now, is that in certain typical British areas we'll only see prices go up further. Especially as many Brits are desperate to get out before 2019.

If you're not planning to sell, it doesn't matter what it's worth.

A sample of one house may be unrepresentative not least because the purchase/acquisition price might not be representative of general sale prices. For example a particularly "motivated" seller, and a cash buyer might agree a sale at an unusually low price for a quick sale.

When I bought my home in London it was an ex-rental and I was a well financed first time buyer, and I agreed a price with the seller based on no chain and a quick exchange of contracts. Between agreeing a price and closing six weeks later, the market price (asking price of houses for sale) of houses in that area had jumped 20%!

True and it's another way for the government to tax you. Your house is worth more, so let's charge more.

Yes sort of confirms what I put, however like everywhere with property and prices there will be a variety of regional differences. Hence why I referred to the area we are.

As always with property, you dont gain anything by an increase in your property price, unless you can buy the equivalent at a lower price, which normally implies going to a different location, no doubt with disadvantages

I would not put too much store by what one estate agent thinks. Are other similar properties really selling for €150K? If you would care to describe your little house, and give it's street name we may or possibly not agree on it's current value.

Whatever, one swallow does not a summer make. Perhaps you are benefitting from a very astute buy, rather than a general rise in house values. From my observation prices have not increased 3 fold in Cabo Roig or anywhere else on Costa Blanca.

As Brexit unfolds I think this could have an impact on property prices in areas popular with UK migrants all around the EU. I don't think it will be that dramatic but even now because of the £ people's budgets will be trimmed back.

The thing is that a lot of Brits are rushing out now, so they can secure EU rights before Britain leaves the EU. This means that prices are increasing in these areas but will probably peak in 2018. After that prices will probably fall again and we'll have another boom bust story. Might be good to sell next year and buy in 2020 again;).
