Re-registering our LHD Fiat Doblo here in Spain
We have just finished the re-registering of our car we bought in the UK and drove out here. Oh it is wonderful to have Spanish plates at long last. We used a guy from Alcoy, who was remarkably cheap, did all the paperwork for us, travelled to Alicante to finish the registration and even organised the new plates for us. If anyone would like details on him PM me.

You have achieved exactly what I want to do! I have been prattling on about buying a LHD Fiat Doblo 1.3 Multijet Family with AC for about a year now. Where did you find yours or did you import to UK from Belgium before re-importing to Spain? Is yours the Family? Is it the really ugly one or the latest which looks much smoother ( I want the ugly one)? Do you have AC? Did you drive it down?
Regards,
John.

Re: Re-registering our LHD Fiat Doblo here in Spain
We bought the car brand new from a company called 'TT Centre' in Surrey. They specialise in the import of LHD cars. Ours is Fiat Doblo 1.9 120 BHP (5 seats) and yes, it does have AC. TT Centre delivered the car to us in Cornwall 2 days before we set off for our new home in Spain. We crossed the channel from Plymouth to Roscoff in January and drove to the CB. It took us 2 days. As you probably know, you must re-register an imported car within 6 months if you intend to remain in Spain.
This process is quite complicated and can be very expensive if you don’t find the right person. We were quoted over a 1000 euros by a company on the coast, but we ended up paying 450 euros for exactly the same thing after we found an English speaking Spanish engineer in the inland town of Alcoy who did everything for us.
The 450 euro fee included an ITV (MOT), which was necessary even though the car had only 15,000km on the clock. It also included the issue of a document recording all the essential information about the car (a legal necessity in Spain) and one years local tax (the equivalent of the UK’s road fund licence).
If you need any further information, PM me, as obviously I can’t advertise on here!
