But what kind of organisation are they ? military, hermandad, boyscouts ?

Los Legionarios (Legionnaires) are military. Sort of like the Marines I think. They are very harshly disciplined and their role is described as "shock combat" whatever that means!

Does this help - homage to a hero. Do not know enough about the history of the Gomerans but this was obviously an important date.
