I live near Adra, it is a non touristy fishing town, nice beach, nice bars, lovely people, it is a busy town but not many Brits, if that is what you are meaning.

Just over the border from Granada province. 45 mins or less to Almeria airport and now with our autovia being finished about 1 hr 40 to Málaga. pm me if you want more information

Thank you. How do you think non Spanish speaking folk such as us would get on, we are learning some phrases but at my age the brain is willing but not very absorbent.

Wouldnt be a problem, some know English, if you try so would they, we didnt have any spanish when we moved over and been made very welcome, it is easier to learn when here and using. It has good supermarkets, lovely beach and prom, free tapas coffee maybe max 1.20 euro, There a few Brits but not many at all, plus you have the benefit as in most Spanish towns of free lessons. Can always meet up with us on Sunday morning in La Rábita just 15 mins ride from there.

Lots of history in the place Phoenicians got there first, high street used to be the sea front, But back to your question yes you would be absolutely fine there.

Hello.
We have lived in Adra for 9 years now. There are very few English people here but you rarely see them to be honest and if you do, its on a weekly trip to Lidls!! It is fairly essential to speak some Spanish as very few speak English speakers. Even in our doctor's surgery or our bank are we yet to find an English speaker. It's a lovely Spanish community and the locals are more than happy to integrate you into anything going on. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions.
