I am resident, autónomo and private health insurance has literally just expired a couple of weeks ago, been waiting to get my new rental contract from my landlord so I can get my SIP card and I have badly damaged my knee today.

Can I go to the general hospital ??

The reply is a bit late but yes, you can go to urgencias, if you haven't already.
