Talking Pros and cons of Water Deposits and Solar Power

As we don't have either water deposits or solar power in Wales, can anyone tell the benefits (or not) of these - most of properties we are looking at have one or either. How much solar power is needed to run a 2 bed house for 2 people - just lighting, shower, microwave, washing machine, cooker and very occasionally an iron!
What is the cost of water deposit - where do you get it delivered from and how much would you estimate is used per week/month.
