Property search

Hi, just joined. We are looking at buying an apartment in Andalusia somewhere near the coast, any advice on where to look would be greatly appreciated.

What do you like about the chosen area? Do you have any favourite towns/villages? Will you want a quiet backwater or somewhere fairly lively? We all like different things so it is difficult for people to guide you without additional information.

Thanjs for your reply. We like Nerja and Estepona, though not limited to those areas, we have two teenagers so would like to be close to beaches and somewhere with a bit of nightlife. A short bus ride away from the coast would be fine.

I'd agree with Rosemary and it's very hard to say with little information. Much of the coast is similar in a way and small things might make the difference to you, be it no raw sewage in the water, fewer hotels, the perfect property. I would just set a price filter and search the type of apartment you want. If you have a price limit and some sort of idea (4 bed, swimming pool, parking, lift), you can already avoid areas that are out of your price range and take it from there.

If you have not lived in the region before don't buy based on a short visit. Rent for a while in the place you think you want to be so you have an easy exit if you don't like it. There is a lot of coastline and some wonderful villages between Nerja and Estepona so your search area is huge. Narrow it down , rent and then , if satisfied buy, there will be plenty of properties available and they are not selling quickly.

The only thing is that it's difficult to rent for a while if they are buying a holiday home. You are right with properties not selling quickly and there seems to be more and more properties coming on the market again, maybe due to the rising cost of living and interest rates going up.

Thanks for the replies.
Just looking to buy maybe a 2 bed apartment for now, so we can spend time looking for somewhere more permanent at a later date.
Not too bothered about a particular area, just somewhere that's nice as a holiday destination.
are there any particular websites or agents that are recommended?
We have been to the Costa del Sol area many times before and do like it, but we wouldn't discount other parts of Spain.
Easy access to an airport would be good.

Browse a site such as: https://www.idealista.com/en/ It will give you a good idea of the market even though they are slow to take down sold/rented properties.
Malaga is an excellent airport with good motorway access to places such as Estepona but then I presume you know that already . Great advantage of Malaga is also high speed train to Madrid.
