Property Embargo Advice pls

I have just got back to Spain from 3 months away and have opened a letter which states 'Notification Diligencia Embargo De Bienes Inmuebles'

It appears my ex partner has not paid the last 2 years IBI. I can't translate the letter but tomorrows date keeps appearing so I assume the property will be embargo'd then.

Can anyone explain what exactly happens, do collectors come round to the house for the outstanding money or is there just a claim against the property until the debt is paid?

And finally do I need a lawyer to lift the embargo and pay it off as I assume I can't just pay it now thru the banks or tax office as the deadline dates have passed.

Thx

I helped a friend sort out the same situation - took all the unpaid bills etc to the office where the tax would normally be paid, they added up all the fines etc that had accrued and, as long she started to pay off the outstanding amounts (plus their associated fines etc for late payment) in the order in which they had originally become due (she couldn't afford to pay it all off in one go), the embargo was lifted automatically...the payments had to be made in the tax office.
