Property after Relative Passing
Hello all.
I'm looking for some advice. My dad recently passed and left me a 2 bed townhouse in a village in the Cadiar region. He has lived there for coming up 20 years. We never had the "Normal" father/son relationship and spent a lot of that time not seeing each other. As such I know nothing of the area, how Spain works and what to do going forward. I know Brexit has ruined things for us in regard to the free movement aspect so now I'm in a predicament as to what to do? I have no idea how to sell, how the market works. Or do I turn it into a rental, in which case what taxes are paid. He also has an addictional plot of land with a ruin of a farmhouse on with 33 acres including a well, which I think I would sell as I have no means to rebuild the house. It has some almond trees on it, and I suppose it may work well for a vineyard or almond farm. Any information or hints anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: Property after Relative Passing
Sorry for your loss.
Have you dealt with all of the initial legal things such as paying the inherittance tax? If not that needs to be done a.s.a.p. as you can not move forward without this first step. Rosemary |

Sorry to hear and would agree with Rosemary, this is your first step. That area is very remote and for that reason property is very cheap with no well paid employment, so I doubt renting will be worth it. Leaving it empty could also attracts squatters, so always good to speak to different local estate agents to get a feel for prices.
