Thanks for that.
I do have a couple of floodlights working on solar with movement detectors and they are pretty good. I use one also over the entrance door so we can see to get in.

I'm looking at 5 of these, in a rack.

But at a grand each they are not cheap.

The multi-grain sliced bread we like had increased from €1.45 a loaf to €1.60, pan cristal bread rolls from €0.35 each to €0.45 and pain aux raisins from €0.60 each to €0.75. The price of individual croissants and chocolate muffins has not changed, though. Then this morning I saw the biggest price jump yet in Mercadona - Heinz baked beans, which were €0.75 a tin, are now €1.10. However, the Tesco website now shows that the same size tin costs 1.00 pound in the UK, so I suppose that should not be surprising (they may be cheaper in other stores).
A pack of 6 tins of Heinz Beans at Tesco is £3, I bought some yesterday

According to their website it's 4 tins for 3.00 or with a Clubcard, 6 tins for 3.50. But the trouble with these multipack or BOGOFF offers is that the people who need the savings most (those on low incomes, benefits or pensioners) can't afford the greater initial outlay as they can only buy 1 item at a time or would have to go without something else to be able to afford the mulltipack. Just like the people on prepayment meters have to pay more for their energy when they are the ones who can least afford to.

Checked my receipt and it’s definitely 6 tins for £3 I only buy things like that when on a “special” I am a very thrifty shopper just how I was brought up.

True, I am sure all the supermarkets have own brand versions which are cheaper than Heinz. We found some Irish branded ones in a British run shop recently which are actually very nice (better than Heinz imo, not too much sauce and what there was was very thick and a good tomato flavour) which were €0.35 per small tin, equivalent to €0.70 for the larger tins. So I haven't bought any of the €1.10 Heinz ones

More to the point which production line do they come off?

Are you just paying extra for a piece of paper stuck to the outside of a can?

Not me personally as I do not buy beans at all.

Not bothered about the cost of a kebab (nor baked beans, lol) but coffee and cake at my favourite cafe in our town yesterday was E4.30 - when I last visited a few weeks ago it was E3.80 (a 13.5% increase). At least it was good cake and good coffee.

The prices in my local cafe for menu del dia have jumped from 12 euros to 14 euros.

The headline inflation rate that is being reported in the media is about 5% but I think in many cases it is more like 20% on some goods and services.

I think that sounds about right. My monthly non-food shop has jumped about 20% too. It's harder to tell on the food shop due to seasonal changes but I'm sure chicken breast has jumped about 50% since last year.

Everything will continue to go up. This is what happens when you close your economy and print money to pay people for sitting at home.

On UK morning TV today they estimated a FURTHER £1000 on annual fuel/electric costs per house hold, due to Russia invading Ukraine!
