The pharmacies where I live have really tightened up on antibiotics - I used to be able to get Monurol over the counter when I got a UTI but not anymore. I get UTI's often - don't know why - and booking an appointment with my doctor is now getting ridiculous, 7 days or more. Seven days of peeing minute amounts, every hour or so including during the night and with the associated pain is really getting me down. I do take cranberry extract pills every morning to try and ward off infections but even they are not as potent as previously. Anyone got any ideas on 'natural' remedies for this type of infection?

I don't know what UTI means but if it's a cystitis kind of thing I find cutting down on sugar intake helps. If you're getting these too often ask for a diabetes test in case there's regularly some sugar in your urine. The infections happen when the lining of the bladder has been irritated for too long. I don't really get cystitis now but did for a while. Now I recognise the pre-symptom stage. So as not to offend the delicate among us I'll PM you this info!
Then I drink loads of water and stay off sugary or alcoholic drinks.

OK I stand corrected. I suppose you must know him personally. Never did like 3 letter acronyms! But there usually is an underlying cause for repeated urine infections and that should be checked out.The symptoms sound identical to cystitis. Very painful!

"Ordinary" aspirins are not coated as they are taken as painkillers and need to act immediately so they do dissolve in the stomach.
For daily use you should not take ordinary aspirin only the special coated ones (which are more expensive). They are available on prescription.

I have Ibuprofen on prescription, the prescribed dose being 400mg, where in the UK 200mg is the max available OTC without prescription. In Spain you can get 600mg without a prescription.
prices can vary OTC but if you can get a local doctor to prescribe then you should only pay about 80c per item, if you are under 65.

Two totally different things UTI is an infection in some part of the urinary tract, so could be bladder or kidney, NSU is an infection of the urethra, of unknown etiology, i.e. they cant isolate a pathogen.

NATO/OTAN = North Atlantic Treaties Organisation
there seems to be some confusion even with those who play with them every day
