pre-paid sim

Hi all

Going to Nerja for 10 days in October I was wondering if there is a pre-paid sim card available so I don't get ripped off by UK Orange.

Not too bothered about data I can get that free in bars etc its calls within Spain that I will need.

Vodafone has sims for €5. For €10/mo extra you can have calls, texts and a gig of data. Ask about the "smart" plans. All are pay as you go - no contract. Don't know about that area but Vodafone has excellent coverage here.

You will likely stand in the queue longer than it takes to set you up with it.

Only thing with the travel type sims is Spanish businesses etc will not call you on them usually unless you have a Spanish mobile number due to cost to them. I flit between UK and Spain and have come across this problem so use a cheap PAYG Spanish Sim Ersoki and Carfour both do them Eroski use Vodafone as provider and Carfour use Orange both at much cheaper rates and easy to set up. Also worth a look at MÁSMÓVIL: Your mobile operator with the cheapest rates – MÁSMÓVIL they have good payg rates and use Orange as a provider. You should be able to find and shop near you on their site that can sort it out for you. Stating the obvious but make sure the operator used has good signal strength in your area before buying.

'Toggle Mobile' sim card is £10 from carphone warehouse which gives you £10 credit on the pay as you go sim. It allows you to have a number for each country you travel to and you only pay local rate in any country. 23p per min calls and 7p texts. Free to recieve calls and texts. It uses vodafone.

Had a look at the carrefour one, it seem okay and there is a shop in Motril so not too far away.

I need to make sure my phone isn't locked to Orange. Not a problem if it is I have a few old phones knocking about that are not locked.
