There are postmen and women (mostly women) in towns not sure about rural though. We have not fathomed whether there is a daily deliver or not yet. At one point we decided that they do not deliver when it is raining. We had a week of rain and when our post arrived there were packages that had been posted 8 - 10 days apart in UK and they all arrived together in our letter box on the first dry day.

Even in our town people have post office box so I wonder if they live out on the hillsides but do not know.

There are quite a few people on here that live very rural so they will be able to answer you.

Post can be horrendous depending where you live. We live on an urbanisation, and we get post once or twice a week in winter, twice of three times a week in summer. They only deliver to the post boxes at the entrance to the urbanisation. All parcels have to be collected from the local Correos, they put a form in your box and you have to take that, and passport (or residencia) to the Correos, and QUEUE. We, along with a very large number of people, have a post box as well, not in the Correos as getting one there can be like pulling hens teeth, but we get all our e bay purchases sent to the Mail Room box as they accept all the parcels and we don't have to queue. Beware buying anything that needs a customs declaration, we have had three sent from the US, and NOT ONE has arrived. One sent from the UK (god knows why they had to fill in a customs declaration for a couple of sheets of paper, but they did) took 6 WEEKS to arrive, and as it was to have been used to make a birtday card it was US, because the birthday was long gone when we got it. So remind UK people that they DO NOT need to fill a customs form out for Spain.

We get our post daily other than Sundays, if there is a package and we are not in they leave a note and we have to go to the post office and fetch it. post and packages take generally 5 days.

On urbanisations the answer is NO, but they all do, or should, have boxes for each property in a communal are at the entrance, boxes are lockable and you have a key to your own, but deliveries are NOT daily, in towns and other places then the facts are different. Many urbanisations do not even have boxes, but owners have to go to the Correos and get their mail, this is usually new urbanisations that are not yet, officially, on the map.

We live in a small village int the mountains. Our post is delivered most days apart from Saturdays/Sundays. If we are not in and have to collect a parcel, we go to a little room above the Ayuntamiento at 08.00-08.30 to collect it. We can buy stamps and things here too.

The outlying cortijos further up the mountain can either collect their post in the morning, have a post office box or have it delivered to one of the local bars. But I'm sure if you have a post box near the road they would deliver there too.

There is a yellow correos box on the wall of the ayuntamiento where you can post letters.

We bought our own letterbox from Leroy Merlin. If you don't have one, the post lady shoves the post under the door or puts it behind a flowerpot.

We live on an urbanizacion in the country, and get post more or less weekly. Every house has its own letter box either attached or built into a wall.

If we're not at home they leave parcels on top of our wall!!

We live in the countryside about 12km from the coast but we only get post once, sometimes twice a week. The only trouble we have is with the courier companies who decide sometimes that they do not deliver to the countryside. Today for instance, I have been waiting for a parcel for 4 weeks from the UK to be delivered, the courier company telephoned me to say that they do not deliver to where I live but could I meet the delivery van in town at 11.30 opposite the bank. DHL are normally best the delivery agents.

Our postie comes regularly, when we did not have a letter box on the property he still came and rang the doorbell, but if we were out he used to leave through the gates, hence we now have a letter box

In the Campo de Conil the post arrives as and when they feel like delivering it. Amazingly the last 2 weeks we have had 2 deliveries a week but in the past especially in summer sometimes it has been once in 4 weeks:frown:

I had to collect mine from the post office and not very securely either. So did every other foreigner in the campo part of the village. My Spanish neighbour had her post delivered though:sneaky:

Our experience is very similar to Scampicat's, and we also live in a small rural village.
We have a lovely postman who arrives daily and at a regular time (usually when I'm out walking the dog!)
He always greets me, and hands me any post mid walk :D
If we don't happen to meet up, he just slides the letters under the front door.
If there's a parcel to be delivered and we're not in, our nice postie just takes it to the churreria or the bar ;)
However, the formal system is that he leaves a card under your door, which you can then take to the Ayuntamiento to collect said parcel anytime up until 2pm.

We've also recently acquired a bright, shiny, new Correos postbox in the Plaza (the one and only place to post letters) and this is emptied daily, Monday to Saturday.

From some of these other replies, it sounds like we're pretty fortunate! :ohmy:

We live in a small rural town and get a daily delivery except Sundays.
Before I fitted a letter box all letters were either shoved under the door or placed behind the window persiana.
