Portable Airconditioning

Does anyone use this or have they experienced it. Is it effective, costly, any plus over fixed airconditioning? My villa does not have aircon so wondering what to do for the best as I am sure I will need something.

Thanks

I have got one and it is noisy. Made the mistake of getting one that you canĀ“t adapt to hot air usage for the winter. Still prefer to just use fans.

Re: Portable Airconditioning

We bought one last summer, it did cool the room down, but is VERY noisy, so did not have it on at night, only got it at the end of the summer so will try it out again this year, ours converts to heat as well but would use a lot of electricity, so use gas heater in winter.

Re: Portable Airconditioning

We have a portable air con unit. Works OK, I wouldnt say it's as cool as a fixed unit. We bought a "quiet" one so noise in the room is not a problem. If you want aircon in your villa and you have fixed units how many will you need?
Plus points are.
Its portable and we move it from room to room.
Its quite quiet.
We are in a rental and we can take it with us and dont need to pay for it to be regassed/reinstalled.
Minus points are.
Fairly heavy and you would'nt want to be lugging it up stairs too much.
Don't think its quite as cold as fixed units.
It only blows cold. No facility to blow hot air in winter.
Quite juice hungry, I worked it out at about 12c a hour but I think fixed units consume about the same.
