Ponche Cabellero
Hi this has been my Favourite Spanish tipple for years either on its own with Ice or with coke.
I have noticed (since I appointed myself the uk sales agent (joke) and introduced loads of people to the delights of ponche) that the price has gone up by staggering ammounts. 4 years ago it was about 6 E a bottle now it is about 12E, doubled in a short Time. WELL, I have discovered the delights of their competitor, namely Ponche Osbourne which is slightly sweeter with a raisiny taste, and I am happy paying 6E again ( i hope my telling you this does not send Ponche Osbourne prices sky rocketing! regards LPH |
Re: Ponche Cabellero
I like crema de caballero which is the cream version (if you like Bailey's, try it ). I haven't bought it for a bit as I'm on a diet! - so I don't know what it costs.

Re: Ponche Cabellero
Caballero and Osborne are in El Puerto de Santa Maria. Osborne is still an independent I believe whereas Caballero was brought into the Lustau family a few years ago. Ponche is of course Spanish for Punch.
The well known female impersonators : the Joy Boys have the bottles shown on their fine web site: http://www.comicace.net/joy_boy/inde...=01011_ofi.jpg Osborne takes its name from the founder, one Thomas Osborne from Devon who made his mark in Cadiz in the 1700s and opened a wine business across the Bay of Cadiz in El Puerto de Santa Maria. |
Re: Ponche Cabellero
Locally I pay 9.65 € for Caballero. I would still buy it if the price went up.
I tried the Osbourne version before getting hooked on the Caballero but did not like it. I think I should get a reduction or shares in the company because I have gotten many new customers for them! |
