Piggy backing off S1 cert.
Good morning, my husband is eligible for the S1 certificate. We lived in Cyprus for 7 years and I was able to piggyback off his S1 as his spouse. Is it the same in Spain? I won't have long before I get my own but not sure how expensive private med insurance will be for myself especially as I'm Type 2 diabetic albeit in remission. Thanks

You have to be named on his S1 to gain free healthcare.

As far as I remember, Rosemary, my husband had to request an S1 for me as his dependent (it wasn't a case of me being named on his) and the S1 showed me as the beneficiary of a pensioner. When I became a state pensioner myself I had to request a new S1 in my own right. The OP's husband needs to contact the DWP and request one for her.
