Photo Residencia
With Brexit drawing ever closer, wonder if the Spanish Government are putting any plans in place to reinstate the far more useful photo version?

Re: Photo Residencia
The original residency photo card was never discontinued and are given to non EU residents or non EU resident members of an EU citizen. So it's definitely a possibility.

Why would Brexit cause that change? Surely if they wanted they would change it Brexit or not?

Re: Photo Residencia
Thanks Fred I get it now. However I would doubt they would change just for UK expats in Spain plus surely those it would apply to would surely still be resident from acquired EU rules set out in the Brexit negotiations. I may well be wrong I often am.

You’re probably right - they probably won’t be bothered to change anything, unless they need the €10 that they will charge you for the privilege.
As for residents with previously earned right to permanent residence, that won’t change the fact that they are no longer Eu citizens and would be required to have the card rather than the old Eu form/card under Eu residency rules. Of course, any unilateral arrangement between Spain and the Eu could change that.

I wouldn't mind paying 10 euros to get back the little plastic card.It would mean we wouldn't need to carry our passports.

Re: Photo Residencia
That is not strictly true. The only legal form of ID is either a passport or ID card issued by the authorities of the country of which you are a citizen.
That said, as already mentioned, a Spanish driving licence is usually acceptable, as would be a residency card.

Some of us don't now have a driving licence.I was a member of the British Forces & swore allegiance to the crown some years past.So I don't feel right at taking on another nationality at this late stage of life.Maybe different for younger people I imagine.
