Phoning UK from Spain Landline?
Hello can someone help out here?,i have a landline with moviestar and i used ESPANTEL regulary good service to phone through to the uk last year and for many years with no problems and was at local rate on my adsl package so cost nothing using 911 312 320.
Recently they have changed this number to 515 09 09 00 NOV/DEC 2014 and it now costs about 5-6 cents minute ok no problem and this worked before christmas.
However now january 2015 today when you phone this number and then enter your uk number it tells you for the uk to use 902 714 121 which when you dial it moviestar informs you there is a delay and phone back later, tried many times today as i just came back from xmas uk no joy,i also tried 902 16 232,at a loss now any help appreciated please or suggestion use another number or company, maybe someone knows whats happening solution
Thanks

As you have ADSL then SKYPE is the way to go (IMO)

I use an Orange Mundo PAYG SIM in my mobile. Cost is 1 Euro cent a minute to the UK at any time of day.
I have a Movistar landline and I get a 'no such number' tone when trying to dial the UK. I then discovered that it's necessary to dial a 4 digit code in front of the UK number but I'm afraid I can't remember it because I never use it (mobile cheap enough and I use Skype too).

When in Skype use the menus to get to the Account page. You will see subscription options or you can simply add some cash and use it at a per-minute rate.
A subscription for 3.99 a month (I think) gives you free calls to UK landlines - unlimited.

Thanks, I do know that though. There is a 4 digit code i have to dial before i then dial 0044....
I know it seems strange but it is something to do with the fact the previous owner had registered with another call supplier.
I can't call a Spanish number without first dialling this 4 digit code.

Some re-sellers use a prefix code to shunt the calls through them so that they get the commission (and you get cheaper calls - hopefully).

Re: Phoning UK from Spain Landline?
Thanks for the help but please believe me, in order to use my landline in Spain I have to dial a 4 digit code before the number I am trying to call. There is one exception, and that's the Movistar help number.
The 4 digit code must go in before the 0044 etc... for a UK number, and it must go in ahead of even a number in Spain.
It is to do with the fact that other companies are able to offer calls over the Movistar network and what you're doing by dialling to code is selecting the 3rd party that's going to bill the call.
If you want to come and try dialling out without the code, zip over to Javea. You'll be wasting your time but I will make you a coffee :-)
