Well, not sure if we can get 1.27 again this year, but at least 1.19 isn't as bad as earlier this year.

I was making the point that 1.19 is worse than at the start of this year when it was 1.23

Re: Is the Peseta making a return?
The peseta has no need to make a return because it never went out, especially with some of the old gadgies near me.
My neighbours still talk everything from house prices to the family shopping in terms of pesetas. |

I shifted quite a bit into Spain almost 20 yrs back when it was a zillion psts or so to the pound and a just a little more in the early euro days at 1.5 plus to the pound. A little good fortune on the property market helped boost it quite a bit further. Now I only move some in the opposite direction for safe keeping which hasn't worked out too badly either. . |
Re: Is the Peseta making a return?
Been some rumblings in the media lately that Germany may consider leaving the Euro. I can't see it myself, they've gained enormously from the lower currency (an indepenent DM would zoom too high for their industry), but it would help most of the other countries in the Eurozone. Even a 15% drop would mean the pound could buy 1.37 Euros.

Re: Is the Peseta making a return?
I just found a 1000 Pta note in a drawer. In the old days, this was a decent amount of cash, now it would be good for two coffees and a bun. So, no, don't bring back the peseta. Let's have pieces-of-eight instead.
