Pension from Spain and UK question.
I am trying to help out a distant relative, who has just had to leave Spain and go back to the UK due to family situation.
he has been in receipt of UK pension for over 2 years and now can claim a Spainish pension. My question is can he claim his Spanish pension from the UK, although at this moment he is a Spanish resident. Also how does one give up Spanish residency, does the office that deals with TIe cards in Alicante ( where the card was obtained) process the paperwork. Will he have to attend in person? |
Re: Pension from Spain and UK question.
Hola,
I have just left Spain and taken up residency in the UK; my solicitor has an all encompassing power of attorney and has filled in form 030 for me which has changed my tax residency. Most "bookwork" is timed so things like my driving licence will expire naturally, as will my padron. My solicitor recommends this route as the easiest and cheapest way of achieving the objective. Info from UK Gov
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-i...ning-to-the-uk Dxf - Surely you will have to exchange your Spanish DL for a UK driving licence... |

[QUOTE=

Plus my family live nearby and have indeed helped me with runs to the tip of the inevitable cardboard packaging which one gets when moving into a different property Davexf |

A Spanish pension can only be paid into a Spanish bank Acc, so make sure that that is kept running. |

I had no idea.
This is for a Spanish Gov pension (or part off) not a private / company pension. |
Re: Pension from Spain and UK question.
Just add a couple more issues as a non-resident receipient of a Spanish pension you will need to :
1. Provide a "Proof of Life" every year 2. Provide a "Certificate of Tax Residency " every year. I do this every January to Malaga SS office. Sometimes they charge me tax anyhow but if I complain I normally get it back a couple of months later. That way you can get your pensioon paid tax-free into a Spanish bank account ( have not tried to get it paid abroad but believe you can do ) . |
