Default Paying tax in the UK but living in Spain

Hi Everyone - first time poster so please be gentle with me! I know there have been some similar threads on this subject but I would like to be sure before I jump.

I am a UK citizen currently living in Colombia, South America but seriously considering relocating to Spain so I can be closer to my family who all live in the UK.

I own a UK registered business which I run entirely online and over the phone.

My question is this: can I live in Spain and continue to pay tax in UK? Or would I have to register as 'autonomo' in Spain and pay tax there even though all my customers and all my earnings are from the UK?

Thanks in advance if anyone can clarify things for me.

It doesn't matter where your customers are. You are living in Spain and conducting business from here - therefore, you pay tax here.

Many thanks snikpoh - but I can live in Spain for up to 186 days of the year and continue to pay tax in the UK?

Where would you be residing for the other half of the year?

It's 183 (as in 6 months) but where would your 'main residence' be?

If your 'centre of economic interest' is in Spain, that is if you own a home here and just holiday elsewhere, then you are deemed resident here so pay tax here.

Precisely. The OP has two tax considerations; corporate tax on his UK company, and personal tax on his income from that company. Specialist advice is needed, but in addition to the OP running the risk of being deemed resident in Spain, and therefore liable to Spanish tax on his income from the company (and any other sources), the UK company will be deemed to be "effectively controlled" from Spain and therefore subject to Spanish corporate taxes.

Many thanks guys - I really appreciate your help. I would be in Colombia
for the rest of the time. With a couple of trips to the UK to visit family. Colombia has similar rules, more than 6 months of the year here and you pay tax here (well that's the theory anyway).
