PAYG mobile phone Sim for internet "tethering"
We come to Spain for up to a month or so at a time. We have a Spanish Orange PAYG sim for calls and texts on a mobile phone. We are thinking of "tethering" this to a laptop so we can get internet access (low use ie not downloading films etc). Does anyone have a recommendation for staying with Orange and upgrading (buy a month's unlimited internet or just 500mb at a time maybe?) at one of their shops or going somewhere else? Or any other tips?

Not cheap at €36 for a month, but otherwise this seems to be what you need? |

Thanks both - that looks like what I need. So an early trip to Carrefour I think :)

Re: PAYG mobile phone Sim for internet "tethering"
Vodafone has 3 PayG plans that are pretty good:
Smart8 - €8/Month +iva 25MB data, 20 mins talk, and 20 SMS I think Smart12 - €12/mo +iva - 500Mb data, 40 SMS, 30 min talk (or something like that) Smart16 - €16/mo +iva - 1GB data, 60SMS, 60 mins talk. You can always go over the limits if you top up, too. I'm not a big Vodafone fan, but not bad for a solution with pretty good geographical coverage. |

Are these monthly PAYG contracts? The Orange one we use now is just top up as and when needed and that is what I need due to the infrequency of our visits.

LOL! Maybe so! We have happy memories of nights out in Wakefield - sometimes the old "Pussycat" club, other times the high street where I believe it had the UK highest density of pubs (possibly now overtaken by Barnsley as, when we go back, it seems the shops repeat in the pattern 'empty/Poundland/pub' haha!
We do Skype, so will watch out for that - thanks again all. |
