Re: Parking Fines
Last Friday I got a parking fine in Benidorm for 6o euros: I was there for an MRI scan, and had been parked for under 2 hours when the fine was imposed. I normally pay quite cheerfully to park, but I was running late for the hospital.
The fine specifically said I could not cancel it out by paying a lesser fine to a machine, as mentioned by a post in this thread. Isn't 60 euros a bit disproportionate? Has anyone else had a similar experience? |
Re: Parking Fines
Yes, I often had parking fines in Benidorm but never paid them. I lated sold the car to a garage and they didn´t or can´t run a check on the car as they got lumbered with the fines when the went to change the paperwork over.

Re: Parking Fines
Must make a difference which town and where you park.
A friend of mine, with a disabled sticker on the screen, parked in a no parking zone. It was towed, cost 60€ for the grua and 90€ for the fine, which if paid within a month will be 45€ Just for those affected. A car with a disabled badge can park free in a 'invalid' space, or other car parking bay only, not in a motorcycle, loading only, no parking, taxi, etc. |
Re: Parking Fines
Remember, if you report your vehicle stolen, when it is recovered, even by the police. YOU MUST make the baja (report that it has been recovered) to the police, in the way you did when you made the denuncia. Otherwise it sray shown as stolen.
Friend got stopped THREE years after her car recovered by the police, as it was still on the computer shown as stolen. |
Re: Parking Fines
If it’s an English-registered car, the Spanish authorities can’t enforce the parking fine, so it’s between you and your conscience.

Re: Parking Fines
No, I live in Spain, in Calpe. It's the second car I have registered here.
I just wondered about the amount and the time. Is a fine as big as this often imposed? Has anyone protested about the scale of the fine? |

Depends where it was parked, usually if it was a blue zone you get the envelope with the ticket and pay at the box.

Re: Parking Fines
That is the normal fine they used to give me for parking in a blue zone without paying for a parking ticket but I had the option of paying something like 3€ if I wanted to at the meter but I think that was only within a certain time limit.

Re: Parking Fines
I was in a normal blue zone, a few cars down a street from a (free) white zone. The cars in front of me and behind me had the same ticket on their windscreens.
Yes, I would have exposited to be able to pay off the fine, only it said this was impossible on the ticket. I was there from 5.30 to 7.30 (because of a mix-up at the hospital, otherwise I'd have been back before 6.30 and none of this would have happened.) The ticket was issued at 7.10. |

Re: Parking Fines
Thanks for the advice! (Of course it means driving back to Benidorm—and parking!—but I may well take it up.)
I notice that some people have referred to an "envelope". I got no envelope, just a little invoice like a credit card receipt, taped to to a small Boletin de Denucia. No indication even of how I should pay it, though I have been told I should go to the Suma in Calpe. Thanks to everyone who has contributed. |

I would think that many of the local police would be able to speak English. Tel. Information:- 96 680 77 66 eamail:- [email protected] |

Re: Parking Fines
Seeing that I’m well away from there now, posting under a cyber identity, I can safely say that the best person to speak to over any such problem in Benidorm is Sticky Vicky, or her daughter. Any Benidormians will know what I mean.
