Re: Opinions on Calpe

Ok, so the list is running something like Altea, Calpe, Moraira and Benissa. What about places slightly inland (not too far, short drive to the coastal areas) from these points? I have been told to avoid the Southern Costas, any reason behind this? Thanks all.

I'm not so sure about Altea really. Whilst I love the place, and it was one of the areas we looked at buying in, its become terribly overbuilt and is actually quite expensive for property. Back when we looked 4 years ago we were shown a 2 bed apartment on the N332 next to the motorway (I could wee it from the window) and it was £110,000. Then theres Altea Hills which is a sprawling big urb on the hillside, which felt to me a bit like that place where the Prisoner was filmed

My favourite restaurant is there though ........ Oustau ..... you've got to go there and try the steak in Strawberry Sauce.

I cant remember, have you looked at places like Alcoy and Xativa?

I cant comment on the South CB, I'll get shouted at

Alcoy and Xativa are both about an hour from the coast? Maybe a little further than I'd like, I was thinking more like a brisk 30 minute drive or something.

Ha ha ....... Actually I probably could have, it was so close
Alcoy is quite a big place, but theres a lot of history there

I found Xative to be very pretty, nice feel about it, but a good hour or so from the coast

We were in Alcoi today. it was ohhhh so busy (trafficwise) at lunchtime while they all went off for their siesta then it was suddenly quiet. Passed lots of bars - all closed  then found a couple on the busy road, not very nice as I prefer to sit outside. It's a big place and we walked around for a couple of hours but I honestly couldn't live there.

The towns in the Jalon valley look pretty nice to me, Alcalali, Jalon, Lliber all the way up to Pego. (That was as far as I got on that particular ride out)

Get google earth installed and spend hours mooching, easy to do!
