Nurses Working In Spain
Are there any British nurses on here that have gained employment in Spain?
I am a UK trained nurse qualified a year and I am fluent in Spanish and English. Wondering if there are any British nurses that made the move over there? |
Re: Nurses Working In Spain
There is a shortage of nursing jobs and that is why so many Spanish nurses end up going to the UK to work.

You first started asking questions a couple of days ago in the USA forum, are you looking in general at different countries or do you have a preference?

@9000 Spanish Nurses working now in the UK. Spain is one of the few countries with a glut of Nurses. New Zealand or Australia are your best bet if you want a change of country. A nephew of mine applied for a post (online) in New Zealand, had an interview via Skype and was working there in less than six months.

Parts of the U.S.A have large Spanish speaking communities and if I remember correctly public service workers, nurses included used to get a bonus for being bi-lingual. California springs to mind.

Thanks everyone for the replies!
Thats right Rosemary we are just keeping our options open at the moment at at the exploring stage! Fredbargate Thanks for the reply! Do you know nurses that have successfully gone to Gibraltar? jonboy oh if only, I think California is quite hard to get into, as if America wasn't hard enough haha |
Re: Nurses Working In Spain
You don't have the experience of specialised areas of Nursing required for the USA, New Zealand or Australia is much easier to get work in. Very few posts will be available in Gibraltar and again you need a lot more 'ward time' to gain employment there.

Fredbargate Thanks for the reply! Do you know nurses that have successfully gone to Gibraltar? But that was more than 40 years ago  There are many others more recent, Plus the Gibraltar Health Authority works to UK standards but also employs doctors, nurses etc from Spain who have experience in the UK. Remember many Gibraltarians are bilingual, Spanish English with a lot of the older women only speaking Spanish. Also with 10,000+ Spaniards crossing the frontier to work in Gib each day who are entitled to work related health services there is a major Spanish speaking community in Gib. Arabic and French are also significant languages in Gib. https://www.gha.gi/ . |
