Surely you researched this sort of stuff before you moved over?

Even if you had private health insurance very few policies provide any cover for the cost of medications, and if you paid into the Spanish public health system via the Convenio Especial (which costs €60 per month per person for those aged under 65) that would not cover the cost of medications either. To be eligible for the Convenio Especial you need to have been officially registered as resident in Spain for at least one year, and I take it you are not yet registered as in order to do so you would have had to provide proof of comprehensive health insurance with no co-payments (a real Catch 22 situation, I am afraid). As the previous poster said, it's very important to check these things out before making the move.

What are the two OTC meds that are costing that amount?

By living here do you mean resident? If so you should have shown a private medical cover certificate if not working. If you mean you are here as tourist then you can use your european card for some things but you wont get free medication. There is no free healthcare here in spain ( despite what some people are going to tell you)

Good to know. They actually say here that each region has different offerings. https://www.barcelona-metropolitan.c...-in-catalunya/
One thing that is important to remember about the Spanish health-care system is that it is decentralized, so the way system works in each of Spain’s 17 communities varies, and coverage can vary too, with some regions—such as Catalunya—offering even more services than legally mandated. Each community has its own health-care card (targeta sanitària individual (TSI)) and health-care management system, so coverage will vary, depending on where you live.

Looking at your old post it would appear you are in La Linea, a part time job in Gibraltar may be a worth considering.
