Default Noisy neighbours

Hi,
I have a problem with noises coming from two commercial properties at the bottom of my garden. The noises are such that I find it impossible to sit in my garden. Does anyone know of any laws regarding noise levels from neighbours?
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks

Your best bet is your local council, however if the premises were there when you bought or moved into your property, and have not changed purpose during that time I suspect you may have little come back. You could also approach the citzens advice bureau.

Hi, Thanks for that, but I seem to have gotten off to a bad start. I live in Spain so these problems are obviously dealt with differently here. Thanks again.

Sorry about that but there was no indication of where you were living in your post, so I, mistakenly obviously, assumed the UK.

Welcome to BE. I have moved your thread over to new of our Spain forums...where it will be seen by people who actually live in Spain. I hope you manage to sort the problem out...good luck.

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

I am going to move this into the main Spain forum where you hopefully will gain some helpful advice.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Rosemary

the advice is more or less as mikelincs gave you - & more or less as it would be in the UK

yes there are noise limits - & probably also certain times of day when the businesses aren't allowed to make the noise

you need to get in touch with the local council /ayuntamiento to find out what rules apply to these businesses

if you feel that they are breaking the rules you can complain to OMIC which is the Spanish version of the CAB &/or denounce them/make a police report

Do as you would do in the UK. If it´s at an unreasonable hour, call the Police.
I attended a party at a city centre hotel in Granada on a Sunday. Quite early on the music went off. A near by resident had called the Police to say the music was preventing him/her from sleeping. This was at around 11pm.
