Quick question................A friend is coming over from the UK to work for the summer, and is not looking forward to the 6 hour queue at the commisaria,

Is it possible to apply for the NIE/C de R in the Spanish Embassy in Manchester???

There is only one Spnish Embassy in UK and that is in London. You can apply for your NIE at the Spanih consulates though and if you log onto the website you will see which one you should attend and what paperwork you will need to produce. Check the free beer thread for info.

Thanks for that.........My friend lives in York and will advise him to contact the Spanish Conulate General in Manchester.

I can't offer him specific advice as I applied for my NIE years ago, hey and you know what it's like. On IBZ they change the system every year, the only thing that is constant is the queue............I know that last year people were queuing for 14 hours.

A lot of the police stations have appointment systems now, and you get a residencia certificate and NIE together.
